Glove Maintenance

Glove Maintenance

We all know top brand gloves can cost anywhere from $100 and up, so it is essential to take care of your glove and get the most out of it. Gloves are made out of durable leather meant to last for a long time, but the proper steps must be taken to get the most extended life out of your glove. This blog will discuss the steps to take when maintaining your glove.

Step 1: Remove excess dirt and other grime from the surface of the glove. This can be done with a brush or a rag. It is vital to remove excess gunk off the outside so that the dirt doesn’t get stuck on the glove when the following steps are taken.

Step 2: Use a leather cleaner to clean up whatever is left on the glove. Dip the soft rag in the leather cleaner, and remember that a little of this will go a long way. Be sure to get between the glove fingers and try your best to get your glove looking new.

Step 3: The next step is to condition your glove. This will moisturize your glove and help prevent the leather from deteriorating. Applying a light coating is essential as the moisturizer can build up in excess if too much is applied.

Step 4: The last step is to properly store your glove with a ball inside. Now that your glove is in good condition, you’ll want it to settle in the correct form, which is why a ball should be placed in the glove to help form the pocket and prevent the glove from folding in half to form that pancake look.
